OUR BESPOKE FURNITURE DESIGN PROCESS

At Liberty York, we have developed our own in house process to help when working on any bespoke furniture design project. As a result of our experience, our four step process enables us to meet the most specific requirements.

STAGE 1

DEVELOPMENT OF DESIGN BRIEF

During the first stage we create a design brief. This can be as simple or as complex as is required due to us tailoring to your exact needs. Normally, this is developed when both the client and the designer are present. The design brief is the foundation from which all drawings are created.

STAGE 2

PREPARATION OF DRAWINGS FOR YOUR BESPOKE FURNITURE DESIGN PROJECT

We will provide initial drawings to depict the item in block form. As a rule, this doesn’t include colours and textures. The client can make informed decisions from these drawings as to the final shape and proportion.

STAGE 3

PREPARATION OF FINAL DRAWINGS AND SIGN OFF

The final drawings are fully developed illustrations covering colour and texture. They also include specific dimensions. We have accounted for the clients PC on the project illustrated on the left. At this stage a quotation on the project is provided.

STAGE 4

CONSTRUCTION AND FITTING OF THE FINAL DESIGN

Finally, after receiving the approval of final drawings and the acceptance of our quotation, we can book timings and dates.

  Adam fitted some alcove shelving and cupboards for us.  They are absolutely superb.  We were slightly vague about what we wanted, although we knew what was to be stored/displayed.   I would highly recommend Adam.  He helped us through the process of converting our ideas into reality, making up drawings and talking through possible modifications to make sure we were happy that the designs would suit our family life and also fit the style of the rooms.  His suggestions for the window set meant we have a beautiful and sympathetic addition to the room and he fitted this and the shelves and cupboards in our living room carefully and quickly.

He offers great after care as well, and even popped round to come and sort out a cupboard door when my younger daughter climbed on it and broke the hinge!  Compared to off the shelf furniture and other bespoke companies Adam offers great value for money.  We are really impressed with the quality of the finished products, and it was a great experience working with him from start to finish.

  Adam from Liberty York fitted some lovely alcove units and accompanying "floating" shelves. We discussed the concept, what would work, a number of things I hadn't thought about(!) including integrating electricity supply and cable management and the result was really impressive and just what we were looking for.   Adam made a stunning wall system for my office/study. It takes up the whole wall from floor to ceiling, with drawers, filing cabinets, bookcases, cupboards, and desk, with a sliding keyboard surface underneath. He made sense of my vague ideas about what I wanted, offering suggestions about practicality and harmony of design. The result is both functional and beautiful. Adam is a fine craftsman and I would heartily recommend him to anyone. He truly works with the client, demonstrating enthusiasm and a welcome perfectionism to every detail.

  We employed Adam Cooper to make us some fitted wardrobes in 2 bedrooms, a fitted bathroom cabinet, and some patio doors.  With his advice and inspiration we ended up with the most amazing wardrobes I have ever used - beautifully designed and crafted. Every time I open the doors it makes me feel good!
Both the bathroom cabinet and the doors also were made to a very high standard; we are very pleased indeed with the quality of craftmanship, time taken and service provided and would recommend him to anyone wanting a great job well done.
